Gastronomy

Les Baux-de-Provence is home to some top-class restaurants. Vegetables and herbs freshly picked from the organic kitchen gardens, produce from the Alpilles and the nearby Mediterranean, olive oil and wine from Les Baux Valley are transformed by the skills of Michelin-starred chefs.

L'Oustau de Baumanière, 3 Michelin stars

Baumanière, Relais & Châteaux*****, a landmark luxury hotel and L’Oustau de Baumanière, a great French dining destination, have been playing host to discriminating gourmets and world-renowned figures for over seventy years.

The owner Jean-André Charial was persuaded into the profession by the hotel’s founder, his grandfather Raymond Thuiller, after working with some of the greatest chefs in France. This 3-star Mchelin Guide gourmet restaurant is now in the hands of Chef Glenn Viel. Glenn Viel was nominated Chef of Tomorrow 2018 by Gault & Millau and Chef of the Year 2020 by his peers.

In 2016, the team was joined by chef pâtissier Brandon Dehan, voted Young Pastry Chef 2019 by Gault & Millau, then Pastry Chef of the Year 2020.

Last year, chef sommelier Antoine Cazin joined the team, supervising the cellars of L’Oustau de Baumanière which contain a treasure-trove of sixty thousand bottles of the best wines from France.

L'Aupiho*, contemporary cuisine

L’Aupiho, the gastronomic restaurant of Domaine de Manville, Palace rural *****, opened in 2014 and won a Michelin star in 2018.

The young Belgian chef, Lieven Van Aken, champions the quality and flavours of the Alpilles, creating colourful and playful contemporary dishes that showcase the natural local produce with a light touch.
Lieven Van Aken is inspired by the surrounding area thanks to the permaculture site of the Domaine.
